On the way to self-organization

Provided by Severin von Hünerbein

In the face of our complex, ever-changing digital landscape, organizations are increasingly realizing that empowering their employees is crucial for success. Self-management has emerged as a prominent trend, with many organizations aiming to embrace it. However, the challenge lies in knowing how to effectively introduce self-management and where to begin. This raises important questions: What mindset and approach towards purpose and wholeness are essential for a successful transition? Moreover, what concrete practices can organizations implement to foster self-management?

In this workshop, we will explore the realm of self-management, providing you with valuable insights and practical guidance. Through a combination of interactive sessions and engaging discussions, we will delve into the following key areas:

  1. Context and Mindset: Understanding the context of self-management and developing the right mindset to embrace its principles. We will explore the underlying values and beliefs that drive successful self-management initiatives.
  2. Agility and Change Processes: Exploring how self-management aligns with agile practices and change processes. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to navigate change effectively and embrace the flexibility required in a self-managed environment.
  3. Supporting Digital Tools: Identifying and utilizing digital tools that support self-management practices. We will explore various technologies and platforms that facilitate collaboration, communication, and knowledge sharing in a self-managed setting.
  4. New Practices: Introducing concrete practices that organizations can adopt to encourage self-management. From decision-making processes to team coordination and feedback mechanisms, we will explore proven strategies for fostering a self-managed culture.
  5. Social Innovation: Recognizing the role of social innovation in self-management. Participants will explore how social innovation practices can drive positive change, encourage autonomy, and enhance collaboration within self-managed teams.

  • Self-management

The goal of the seminar is that, after the course, participants will gain the desire and confidence to start experimenting with self-organization and to design existing activities more consciously. By the end of this workshop, you will have a clear understanding of the key principles and practices involved in successful self-management. You will be equipped with practical tools and strategies to initiate and navigate the journey towards self-management within your organization. The prerequisite is openness to new attitudes and practices as well as the possibility and desire to try out self-organization in your own team and/or organization. Organizations are welcome: > who would like to get a first picture of the introduction of self-organization > that have decided to do so and are now looking for concrete recommendations and > that already have first experiments and prototypes of self-organized collaboration running and would like to get a more systematic overview.
